What We Learned: College Football’s Week 1

The first week of college football is in the books. Now it’s time to tell you what we learned.

Houston Nutt, welcome to the hot seat.

After getting upset by Jacksonville State, Ole Miss’ season is in the dumps and we haven’t made out of September. Houston Nutt needs to fix this quickly because the people in Oxford are very upset.

USC is in big trouble.

Who would have ever thought that Hawaii would put up 588 total yards on USC. Defensively, that was the worst I’ve seen a USC defense play in a long time. Monte Kiffin better do something because it looks like that defense is in for a long season.

Both Boise State and TCU showed that they belong in the BCS discussion.

I have to admit, I wasn’t a believer in Boise State and TCU but after this weekend I am. Both teams put on great showings against quality opponents. I think we might have to get used to seeing these two teams because recruits are going to take notice even more now.

Jake Locker and Washingtion was over-hyped and overrated.

Locker will most likely be a first rounder in next year’s draft, but he is an average college QB. Washington as a team i very overrated and it showed when BYU upset them using two QBs, one of which is a true freshman. Many people believed the Huskies would be a sleeper in the Pac-10 but we now know it’s not going to happen.
