Team USA Headed To FIBA Semifinals

Kevin DurantWith a 89-79 win over Russia today, the USA Men’s basketball squad is headed in the semifinals of the FIBA World Championships.

Kevin Durant led the team in scoring with 33 points while veteran guard Chauncey Billups chipped in 15 of his own.

This win came on the anniversary of the Soviet’s controversial victory over the U.S. in the 1972 gold medal game, the U.S. has yet to accept their silver medals.

The ironic win puts the U.S. two wins away from their first World Championship since 1994.

Host Turkey will play Serbia in one semifinal while the U.S. will face the winner of the Argentina vs. Lithuania game; semifinal games will be played on Saturday.

The FIBA World Championship is being held in Istanbul, Turkey.
