With four NBA titles and a countless number of individual awards, he has definitely made his mark on the league.
Nevertheless, Shaq has become more bitter and hypocritical with age.
It’s no secret that Shaq and former teammate Kobe Bryant have never been the best of friends, but their public spats suggest that they actually despise each other.
After leaving the Lakers, while still in his prime, O’Neal often alluded to Bryant’s inability to win a title. The Kobe hasn’t and won’t win without me argument that we became to accustomed to hearing.
Fast forward a few years- Kobe has led the Lakers to three consecutive NBA Finals appearances winning the last two, all without Shaq.
Shaq’s current argument and I quote, ” ……… I don’t compete with guards. They have the ball more than I do, they shoot way more than I do…….”
Really. That’s the best he can come up with. Sad to say, but my suspicions have been confirmed. It is impossible for an aging athlete to gracefully pass the torch to a younger generation.
While Shaq was great in his prime, he’s now about 4 years past it and Kobe’s still in his. I would suggest and hope that Shaq bows out gracefully before he embarrasses himself further.
Which nickname do you think Shaq should stick with? The Big Aristotle, The Big Diesel, or Superman. Nah, I think the “Big Loser” will suffice for now. He’s earned it.
