The extortion saga between Louisville coach, Rick Pitino and gal pal Karen Sypher has finally come to an end. And it’s an ending that Karen Sypher can’t be too happy about, seeing as though she was convicted of all six counts in her extortion case.
Karen Sypher was found guilty Thursday by a Louisville federal jury of extorting University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino and lying to federal agents.
The jury of six men and six women deliberated roughly 5 1/2 hours over two days before finding Sypher guilty on all six counts shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday.
She faces up to 26 years in prison on all charges, although under federal sentencing guidelines she would more likely get seven to eight years, her attorney, James Earhart, has said.
