I’m sure everyone knows a guy that wants to fight their father-in-law. In fact, that guy may even be you. But rarely does wanting to fight your father-in-law become more than a thought. Mets’ reliever Francisco Rodriguez had one of those rare occasions last night.
Emotional Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez was arrested after last night’s game for assaulting his father-in-law, police said.
Rodriguez and his wife’s father brawled in a tunnel just outside the Mets clubhouse in the moments following the team’s 6-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies.
The father-in-law suffered facial abrasions and a head injury and was taken by ambulance to Flushing Hospital shortly after the altercation, police said.
K-Rod, as the Venezuela-born star closer is known, was charged with third-degree assault, police said.
There’s nothing that strengthens a marriage more than sending your wife’s father to the hospital. Thanksgiving and Christmas will undoubtedly be fun this year.
