Brian Cushing: Still Suspended

‘Over-trained athlete syndrome,’ that’s the excuse Brian Cushing gave for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs back in the spring.

This relatively new, okay let’s get real, it’s a syndrome that was created by Cushing, Texans’ owner Bob McNair and team doctors to possibly avoid the league’s automatic 4-game suspension when testing positive for PED’s.

I applaud their creative effort, but NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and his team of medical experts didn’t buy it. The suspension was upheld and Cushing will miss the Houston Texans first four games of the season.

The star linebacker was named the NFL Rookie of the Year in 2009 and also was a ProBowl selection.
