It’s finally August which means that football season is upon us. Like we do every year we tell you the five coaches that have the hottest seats going into this season.
Rich Rodriguez – Michigan
There are just too many signs that he is gone after this season. The Michigan faithful know that the spread experiment has turned out to be a complete failure. The administration denied his top incoming recruit admission into the school and no one has forgotten about practice-gate. Rodriguez knows the heat is on him and I think he needs to win the Big Ten title to stay around.
Ralph Friedgen – Maryland
After finishing 2-10 last season and almost getting fired last year, Friedgen knows that he needs to make it to a bowl game this year. Maryland has numerous players with experience coming back so making a bowl shouldn’t be hard. I remember when people thought that Maryland was going to be the next powerhouse in the ACC. I bet Friegden remembers too.
Les Miles – LSU
The fans down in Baton Rouge are starting to put pressure on Miles, who’s LSU team underachieved last year. Miles still has much to prove after he backed into the National Championship game with Nick Saban’s recruits. The North Carolina game is very important for Miles because if he loses, the rumblings are going to get louder.
Mark Richt- Georgia
After a disappointing 8-5 season and a terrible close to the recruiting season, Richt is starting to feel the heat in Athens. Richt has been one of Georgia most successful coaches but in this “what have you done lately” SEC, an 8-5 season isn’t going to cut it. If Aaron Murray and Georgia defense steps, The Dawgs could surprise some this year.
Dan Hawkins – Colorado
Hawkins is in the same class as Rodriguez as he needs to have a championship season if he wants to be in Colorado next year. After all the hype Hawkins had coming from Boise State, the most noteworthy thing he has done is benching his son. I think he will be gone and the Buffaloes will have a new coach when they join the Pac 10.
