Yes, we’re all enamored with the possibilities of what LeBron, Bosh, and D. Wade will do. But that hasn’t stopped other teams from continuing to strengthen their teams. Case in point, the Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics are two teams that were already playoff teams, but they continue to look for ways to get even better.
The Bulls have signed Carlos Boozer and are trying to lure JJ Redick from Orlando. The Celtics have added Jermaine O’Neal and re-signed Ray Allen and Paul Pierce. And now, both franchises have their eye on Wizards forward, Josh Howard.
The Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls have shown “serious interest” in free-agent forward Josh Howard, a league source told Yahoo! Sports.
While the Bulls could have the salary-cap space to sign Howard, depending on what happens with their offer sheet to J.J. Redick, the Celtics would need a sign-and-trade to arrange a deal because they have already used their midlevel exception on Jermaine O’Neal.
I’ll reserve judgment until the Heat actually assembles a full roster, but if one of these two teams actually finds a way to get Josh Howard, there could be trouble brewing for the “Big 3” in MIA.
