Why history favors the Celtics

The Boston Celtics franchise is the most storied in NBA history. Since joining the NBA in 1950, the Celtics have won 17 NBA championships and been a part of over 31 conference finals.

Larry Bird, Bob Cousy, Bill Russell are just a few of the Hall of Famers that played with Boston. Along with having the most championships in NBA history the Celtics also holds the record for most MVP’s; ten players earned the award while playing in Boston.

Currently, the Celtics are in another heated battle with their long time nemesis, the Los Angeles Lakers, and lead the series 3-2.

The Lakers, a team that has 15 NBA titles, have won four titles in the last ten years, but have often faltered against the Celtics in the NBA Finals, including in 2008. Overall, the Lakers are 2-11 against Boston in Finals series.

Though the Lakers have home court, the Celtics have never blew a 3-2 lead in the Finals, they are a perfect 11-0.

Quite simply, the Lakers hopes of winning a title in 2010, if you use history as a barometer, are slim to none.
