Avery Johnson Introduced As Nets’ New Coach

Avery Johnson was officially introduced as the New Jersey Nets new head on coach earlier today.

Johnson accrued an overall record of 194-70 overall as a head coach, with all of his previous head coaching experience coming with the Dallas Mavericks; he spent 3+ seasons there.

After a successful tenure in Dallas, which included a trip to the 2006 NBA Finals, Johnson was fired by Mavs owner Mark Cuban.

His new boss, Nets owner and Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, brought Johnson in to change the direction of the Nets franchise; the team was 12-70 in the 2009-10 season, by far the worst in the NBA.

With a rich boss and many key free agents on the horizon, it shouldn’t be long before Johnson has the Nets on the winning track again.

New Jersey holds the third pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.
