The University of Miami has decided to extend their head football coach’s contract.
On Wednesday night Randy Shannon agreed to a 4-year extension with the university.
Though the football program has shown signs of improvement, the team only managed a 21-17 record during the first three years of Shannon’s tenure.
It’s plausible that Miami wants Shannon to be their long-term coach, but they also know that a coach without a secure contract is not appealing the prospective recruits.
Either way, if Shannon can’t find a way to win at least 9 or 10 games in each of the next 2 seasons, his 4-year extension will become a 2/yr. buyout.
