Dan Gilbert, the Cleveland Cavaliers owner, fired coach Mike Brown early Monday morning, despite his record of success with the franchise.
Brown was 272-138 over his 5-year tenure and led the Cavs to the playoffs every season and even led the team to a NBA Finals appearance in 2007.
On Monday Cavs center ,Zydrunas Ilgauskas, stepped up to defend his fired coach in a statement to the Cleveland Plain Dealer:
“I have nothing but good things to say about him,” Ilgauskas told The Plain Dealer.I enjoyed playing for him. I think coach Brown is a very good coach….. But if you’re going to lay all the blame on coach Brown and think that’s going to solve everything, you’ve got another thing coming. I think we’re all at fault — the players, everybody.
Big ‘Z’ was right when he said the players are at fault too, that’s why he, along with the rest of the Cavalier roster, should prepare for the worst as well.
Where was Lebron James as his coach was getting the axe? He was conveniently on vacation and unavailable for comment according to his agent.
My opinion? I think Lebron gave Dan Gilbert an ultimatum, I may stay if you fire Mike Brown. Brown is gone, but will Lebron stay?
