Rumblings here in Atlanta are pointing to Ben Roethlisberger not being charged, with sexual assault, but with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. A charge that stems from providing minors with alcohol beverages. Here’s the legal definition of such a charge:
Contributing to the delinquency of a minor is a crime governed by state laws, which vary by state. Generally, the crime consists of someone knowingly persuading, inducing, enticing or encouraging such a child or youth to engage in actions that would constitute a violation of federal or state law or a municipal or local ordinance.
Again, these are just rumblings in the wind, but the charges would make sense.
The next question is, how would Roger Goodell handle this? On one hand, Roethlisberger has dodged the most serious charge. But the fact that Roethlisberger is still being charged with a crime, could lead to a suspension for Ben.
UPDATE: No charges for Ben.
