Gooden’s drug habits still problematic

Some habits die hard. Just ask former MLB pitcher Dwight Gooden.

After a 17-year drug abuse riddled career, the 45-year-old Gooden was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, leaving the scene of an accident and child endangerment.

The incident that occurred earlier this week in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey is just one of many drug related occurrences that have hindered Gooden’s career and overall reputation.

Most recently, Gooden had been the senior vice president of the Newark Bears, a minor league team, but left the team in November.

The drug in question has not been released by authorities, but Gooden had many bouts with cocaine that resulted in several stays in rehab facilities.

No sentence or court date has been established as of yet, but more court ordered rehab may be in his future.
