There were a few winners from Pete Carroll taking the Seattle Seahawks job. Of course, Carroll was a winner because he was able to jump ship right before the NCAA hammer drops on him. Lane Kiffin was a winner because he, once again, has secured a top, high paying job without proving a thing. And some guy named Derek Dooley parlayed a 17-20 record at his last job into a shiny new job in Tennessee.
But no one was a bigger winner than Rick Neuheisel. No one. The man who has punked him since he arrived at UCLA is gone. And he finally has a winning record against the current head coach at USC. Yes, the victory didn’t come against a USC squad, but that didn’t stop Neuheisel from using that win to begin the war of words with Lane Kiffin.
“I guarantee, if you paid any kind of attention to what’s going on in college football this last week, you can see the landscape is slightly shifting,” Neuheisel told fans. “A few of our guys, we want to welcome coach Kiffin to Los Angeles. We have competed with him before and we look forward to competing with him and this program again.”
“We respect what USC has done the last few years,” Neuheisel said.
“But there’s change now. Until the new regime proves itself, we believe we have every right to claim this city.”
Sounds like Neuheisel is enjoying finally having his balls back. It’s been a while since he’s had them.
