Mark Stoops To Be Named FSU Defensive Coordinator

Ever since longtime defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews announced his retirement, rumors have floated around the interwebs about who would be his replacement. We’ve heard names like Kirby Smart, Sal Sunseri, and Bud Foster. Well reports are trickling out that Mark Stoops will ultimately be the man who gets the job.

University officials have confirmed that Florida State has hired Arizona defensive coordinator Mark Stoops to become its newest defensive coordinator.

Stoops interviewed with soon-to-be head coach Jimbo Fisher in Tallahassee last Sunday. The two reportedly talked over dinner at Shula’s Steakhouse.

Stoops becomes the second assistant hired by Fisher for the 2010 staff. The team hired former Tennessee running backs coach Eddie Gran last week.
