Jimmy Clausen Headed To The NFL Draft

The ending of Jimmy Clausen’s Notre Dame career hasn’t gone according to script.  It was capped off by a black eye and his team choosing not to go to a bowl game.  Today, it’s over as he has opted to forgo his senior season and enter the NFL draft.

“After the season, in talking to my parents and obviously Coach Weis, I just feel it’s the right time,” Clausen told ESPN.com on Monday before a scheduled 2 p.m. ET news conference in South Bend. “Coach Weis told me whether he was going to be here or not be here, it was time for me to go. He thought I’ve improved so much since I came to Notre Dame. So, I’m taking his advice, and I’m going to head out.”

As for his draft stock, Mel Kiper has him as the #4 draft prospect on his big board, and the 1st quarterback to be taken.

UPDATE: Notre Dame receiver, Golden Tate heading to the draft as well.
