Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles, Sunday 8:20 p.m.
Coming into week nine, I’m 6-2 with my GOTW picks. And with the Eagles and Cowboys on deck, I look to make it 7-2. Week nine comes with other big matchups including Cincinnati vs. Baltimore, Houston vs. Indianapolis, and Pittsburgh vs. Denver, but nothing trumps a game between Dallas and Philly. Especially when both teams are tied for 1st place in the NFC East.
Tony Romo vs. Eagles’ Defenders: Much has been made about Tony Loco, as I like to call him, not committing any turnovers in the last three games. But I expect that to change as he goes up against probably the best defense the Cowboys have faced all season. The last time these two teams met it, was last year in the final week of the season with a playoff spot on the line. The Cowboys committed five turnovers (three thanks to Romo) and just like that Dallas’ season was over. If he does that again against this defense, they could face the same outcome from last season.
Philly’s Offensive Weapons vs. Dallas’ D: In my opinion, the Cowboys defense is consistently one of the most overrated in the NFL. A lot of their players seem to believe that they are better than what they really are. While their only true great defensive player, DeMarcus Ware is having somewhat of a slow year. If Brian Westbrook is fully recovered from the concussion he sustained two weeks ago, I believe that he along with LeSean McCoy, DeSean Jackson, and Jeremy Maclin will be too much for the Dallas D to handle.
DeSean Jackson: He is quickly becoming one of the most, if not the most, electric and dynamic player in the league. His ability to make plays on both offense and special teams will make Dallas have to be aware of where he is on the field at all times. If Dallas isn’t able to stop him, they will surely have no shot at winning this game.
Philadelphia 34, Dallas 17. I see this game being a closely contested battled throughout the first half with a lot of penalties taking place simply because of the rivalry between the two teams. But once the 2nd half kicks off, I feel that Philly’s offense will be too much for the Dallas defense to handle. Especially after Romo throws a couple of idiotic interceptions. The Eagles’ main concern will be stopping Pro Bowl tight end, Jason Witten. If they’re able to do that, then this game should be a piece of cake.
