College Football Week Four: What We Learned

J Will bring us what we learned from week four of the college football season.

Virginia Tech is the top team in the ACC:Virginia Tech showed why they were the favorites to win the ACC as they routed Miami 31-7. Miami’s offense had no answer for the Hokies’ defense as Jacory Harris was pressured all game. Tech’s defense took a lot of heat for their play the last couple of weeks and they finally showed up. This win could set the Hokies up to get back in the National Title picture.

Is there a big 4 now in Florida????: South Florida’s 17-7 win at Florida State was a big program booster and now the Bulls are going be pushing for the big 4. FSU’s offensive line was terrible as Christian Ponder was running for his life all game. BJ Daniels stepped in for the injured Matt Grothe and was 8 for 21 for 215 yards with two 70 yard bombs for touchdowns. If South Florida can play defense like it did against FSU for the rest of the season, they could compete with Cincinnati for the Big East title.

Oregon has jumped into the driver’s seat for the Pac 10 title: Oregon’s 42-3 pounding of Cal put the country on notice that they might win the Pac 10 conference. Oregon, who has been in the spotlight for the wrong reasons, needed this game in the worst way. Jeremiah Masoli lit up the Golden Bears for 253 yards and three touchdowns. Oregon’s win was big but, there is one more Pac 10 team making noise which leads to…..

Stanford is 2-0 in Pac 10 play: Who would have thought that the only 2-0 team in the Pac-10 would be the Stanford Cardinals? As I predicated, Stanford beat an overrated Washington team that had no business being ranked in the first place. If Jim Harbaugh is committed to stay, Stanford might be a contender in the years to come.
