With Both The Starting QB And Offensive Coordinator Out, Things Couldn’t Have Started Worse For The New Regime In Kansas City

Already down their newly signed, newly paid savior at quarterback, Matt Cassel to a strained MCL, the Chiefs made a move that will also put them down an offensive coordinator. Reports are surfacing that Chiefs’ offensive coordinator has been relieved of his duties as offensive coordinator.

Chan Gailey has been relieved of his duties as Chiefs offensive coordinator, although it was unclear Monday morning whether he would remain with the team in some other capacity.

Coach Todd Haley, who was the Arizona Cardinals’ offensive coordinator before coming to the Chiefs, appeared unhappy with the play-calling Saturday night in the Chiefs’ 14-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks at Arrowhead Stadium. At Monday morning’s practice, Haley was directing the offense, while Gailey was nowhere to be seen.

Has anyone ever let go their offensive coordinator before the season even starts? That can’t be a good sign. It does signal you to stay away from anyone on that offense during your fantasy football draft. It also signals that it’s business as usual in Kansas City.
