The Angels made a move!- The AL West leading Angels picked a up a struggling Scott Kazmir from the Rays. Despite his 8-7 record and 5.92 ERA, Kaz is 4-0 against the Yankees and Red Sox this year.

Nadal is back– After suffering a knee injury, Nadal failed to win the French Open and did not compete in this year’s Wimbledon. The world’s, because of injury, #3 player will attempt to get back on track by winning the final major of the season, the U.S. Open, which begins in New York today.

Smith gets another slap on the wrist– One would think a stiffer punishment would be doled out to a guy who killed someone while driving recklessly in 2007, but since the judicial system gave him a virtual free pass, so did NBA commissioner David Stern. He served only 30 days in jail and will serve a 7 game suspension, the rich and famous really do live above the law.

Can you say contract extension?- Well, Alabama Athletic Director Mal Moore can and did. How does Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa till 2017 sound, pretty outrageous huh? No SEC Championships and no National Championships, but a contract extension. Didn’t Shula get fired for those exact reasons, makes no sense at all.
