Pedro wins debut; the curl stills looks good

With the Jheri curl in full effect, Pedro Martinez pitched from a big league mound for the first time this season at Wrigley Field on Wednesday evening as a Philadelphia Philly.

The 3-time Cy Young winner helped the Phillies defeat the Cubs 12-5, more important Martinez recorded his first win in nearly a year and he looked good doing it.

The 37-year-old veteran had a five-inning showing throwing 99 pitches allowing seven hits, three runs and also had five strikeouts.

Martinez signed with the Phillies on July 15, an acquisition that moved the 46-year-old Jamie Moyer to the bullpen.

The Phillies have invested $2M in Martinez and if he maintains pitch control for the rest of the season, the Phillies could be the NL representatives in the World Series.
