LA Galaxy Fans Didn’t Exactly Roll Out The Red Carpet For David Beckham’s Return

During Sunday’s friendly match between the LA Galaxy and AC Milan, some LA Galaxy fans chose not to be so friendly (See what I did there?). Some came out just to show David Beckham how unfriendly they can be.

In his first game back, Beckham helped the Galaxy to a 2-2 draw with AC Milan, but the bigger story was the not so warm welcome that he received from some fans.

CARSON, Calif. — David Beckham confronted a fan sitting in a section where negative banners about the Los Angeles Galaxy player were displayed during Beckham’s first home game of the season Sunday night.

As Beckham left the field at halftime, he went over to the section where one of the team’s support groups holds court and appeared to shout something. The fan jumped down from the seating section and was subdued by security before being escorted off the field.

Fans in the L.A. Riot Squad section were holding up Beckham’s jersey and beating it. One of their homemade signs read, “Go home fraud” while another said, “23: Repent.”

With Beckham itching to get back to Europe and Galaxy fans certainly showing how they feel, is it safe to say that this little experiment is coming to an end? And was it even a success? Beckham is undoubtedly a star, but he hasn’t wanted to be here for a while now, so we should all just let it, and him, go.
