Weekly Rewind

The Weekly Rewind is our brief recap of some of the most captivating stories of the previous week.

The Lakers are Champs! Was there any doubt of who the best team in the league was this season in the NBA, not in my opinion. Kobe and the gang ended the Magic’s season last night in game 5, 99-86. The Magic were clearly over matched, now Kobe has a 4th ring, finally one without Shaq, and Phil Jackson has 10 as a coach, Congrats to the L.A. Lakers.

I must admit I didn’t see this one coming. Yes, I predicted that Detroit would win the Stanley Cup, but I’m man enough to admit that I was wrong. It took the Pens 7 games, but on Friday, in Detroit, the Penguins came through with a 2-1 victory, they are now the NHL Champs. Congrats to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Manchester United star soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo will soon be on the move to Madrid. The FIFA player of the year is expected to be transferred by month’s end. Real Madrid is expected to pay a 80Million pound transfer fee for the star, man I should have played soccer.
Okay, the NCAA have moved passed being anal or annoying, they’ve recently moved into the arena of plain stupid. The University of Alabama’s football team will have to vacate 21 wins from the 2005-2007 seasons due to textbook violations. Did you just read that, textbook violations. Some students from 16+ sports apparently abused their free textbook privilege by allowing friends to take advantage of the benefits. Great idea, punish the kids for wanting to learn, very smart.

After a six-month suspension, John Daly is still on the comeback trail after failing to qualify for the U.S. Open last week in a qualifier. He shot 1+over for the tournament and will have to wait to next year to debut those pants at the U.S. Open.
