Federer advances to French Open Final

Roger Federer is once again on his way to the French Open Final after defeating Juan Martin del Potro in five sets in Friday’s second semi-final.

Federer will face Sweden’s Robin Soderling on Sunday in the French final. One would think that Federer is the favorite since his arch-nemesis, Nadal, was defeated in earlier rounds by Soderling.

A win at Roland Garros would be Federer’s first and would be the completion of his quest for the career Grand Slam, the French Open is the only slam he hasn’t won yet.

Not to mention, a victory Sunday will tie Federer with the great Pete Sampras for all-time Grand Slam victories. For now, Sampras sits alone with 14 titles, but its only a matter of time before Federer at least ties him. Lets hope he gets a win on Sunday against Soderling, if he has to continue to face Nadal in Grand Slam finals, he may be stuck on 13 until he retires.
