NCAA Tourney: Friday’s mid-day games

#16 ETSU-62
Simply put, if DeJuan Blair did not have a big game,26pts. and 16rebs, Pitt would have loss to East Tennessee State. This 1 vs. 16 battle looked more like a 8 vs. 9 game. Pitt did not secure a double digit until the final seconds of the game. The NCAA Selection committee is shaken in their boots because they know a 16 seed with eventually down a top seed. For their sakes, hopefully it won’t be this year, but at this very moment the #1 overall seed Louisville is having a time with Morehead State.

#3 Mizz-78
Mizzou proved to be too much for the Big Red of the Ivy League. The Tigers held Cornell to 35% from the field and got a 23pt., 10 rebs performance from F Leo Lyons.

West Virginia had advanced to the Sweet Sixteen in its last 4 tournament appearances, but were bounced in the 1st round by the Flyers. Ruoff and Butler had off games and the team shot 5-20 from behind the arch. Dayton deserves credit, their tough defense forced WVU to shoot 36% from the field.

Despite a monster game from Dionte Christmas, 29pts, and a lackluster showing by James Harden, the Sun Devils managed to emerge victorious. ASU shot nearly 60% from 3 point land, while holding the Owls to under 40% shooting for the game.
