Things were beginning to look up for the Phoenix Suns. They got rid of the coach, Terry Porter, that the players didn’t like and they decided to keep their All-Star forward Amare Stoudemire. With new coach Alvin Gentry taking over, they began their run-and-gun style again. The players were happy and GM Steve Kerr could sleep at night for once.
Whoever coined the phrase “good things don’t last forever” must have envisioned the Suns in the 2008-09 season. On Friday, the fifth day of the Alvin Gentry era, Amare Stoudemire underwent eye surgery. Stoudemire could miss up to 8 weeks.
Can the Suns make the playoffs without Stoudemire? Well, with him they were 9th in the West so it doesn’t look good. Currently, there is only one certainty in Phoenix, Steve Kerr is officially on the chopping block.
