Injury prone McGrady out again

Tracy McGrady Houston Rockets G Tracy McGrady is scheduled to miss three weeks to rest his sore left knee. McGrady has missed the team’s last 3 games after starting the first 15 of the season.

The Rockets star had arthroscopic surgery in May and obviously the knee hasn’t completely healed yet.

McGrady is averaging a modest 15.6 ppg and is shooting 40% from the field, well below his career average of 44%.

The Rockets are already short-handed, F Shane Battier has missed 16 games with a foot injury, G Brent Barry will be out 2 weeks with a torn muscle in his right leg and F Ron Artest has been hampered lately by a sprained ankle.

McGrady missed 12 games last season and 9 in the 2006-07 season. With 3 games missed already, he’ll probably eclipsed those amounts by mid-season.

Despite the injuries, at 11-7, the Rockets currently hold first place in the NBA’s tough Southwest Division and without a healthy McGrady will struggle to hold the top spot.
