Another great college football weekend is in the books and unlike last week we have movement in the Top 10. The most notable change is a new #1 team! Here’s a look at this week’s BCS Rankings. Now, on to this week’s GUTS Rankings.
The Crimson Tide were idle this weekend as they get ready for the annual Iron Bowl against Auburn. The Tigers wouldn’t like anything more than to ruin the Tides’ National Championship hopes. Nick Saban must make sure that his team is completely focused on this week’s game and not the looming match up with Florida.
The Longhorns have quietly continued to win and now they’ve found themselves back in contention for both the National Championship and the Big XII Championship. The Longhorns still need to take care of Texas A&M this weekend and hope that the tiebreakers come out in their favor.
I guess the experts were right. The Sooners dismantled Texas Tech, 65-21 in this week’s game of the week. The Sooners don’t have much time to celebrate because they travel to play rival, Oklahoma State this weekend.
The Gators took care of The Citadel, 70-19. Next up, the Gators travel to Tallahassee to take on the Florida State.
The Utes capped off an undefeated season by taking down BYU, 48-24. The Utes now wait to see which BCS bowl they will play in.
6) Texas Tech
I really can’t see how Texas Tech can drop below this point Yeah, they got embarrassed by Oklahoma, but their lone loss is a much better one than most of the one-loss teams. The Red Raiders still have an outside chance at a Big XII championship berth, but they must first take care of Baylor.
The Trojans were idle this weekend as they get ready to take on Notre Dame. The Trojans still need help to even win the Pac 10, so I can’t fathom them winning the National Championship.
8) Penn State
The Nittany Lions took care of business against Michigan State, 49-18 to win the Big Ten title. The Nittany Lions now await their opponent in the Rose Bowl.
9) Boise State
The Broncos continued their winning ways with a narrow victory over Nevada, 41-34. The Broncos take on Fresno State this week with a chance to finish undefeated on the line.
10) Ohio State
The Buckeyes dominated Michigan, 42-7 but will miss out on the Big Ten title. They now wait to see where they will go bowling.
11) Oklahoma State 12) Missouri 13) Georgia 14) Ball State 15) TCU
17) Oregon State
19) Georgia Tech
20) Boston College
21) Florida State 22) BYU 23) Michigan State 24) Northwestern 25) Pitt
