GUTS Rankings – Week Five

Another college football weekend is in the books so it’s time for another installment of the GUTS Rankings. This is the first time that we’ve had no movement in the Top 10, so you know what that means? Next week, there will be plenty of movement. Here’s a look at this week’s BCS Rankings . Now, on to the GUTS Rankings.

1) Texas Tech
The Red Raiders were idle this weekend as they get ready for their showdown with the Oklahoma Sooners. Just listening to all the “experts” this weekend, it seems as if everyone expects them to lose this game. If they play the same way they have been playing, Oklahoma doesn’t stand a chance.

2) Alabama
The Crimson Tide avenged last year’s loss to Mississippi State by beating them 32-7. Next up, is the Iron Bowl against the reeling Auburn Tigers. With a date with Florida just a game away, the Tide better stay focused because anything can happen in rivalry games.

3) Texas
The Longhorns kept rolling as they took care of Kansas, 35-7. The Longhorns finish up the season against Texas A&M and have to hope that one of the top two falls.

4) Florida
The Gators dominated another SEC foe, beating South Carolina, 56-6 and giving Steve Spurrier his worst loss ever. Next up for the Gators is the Citadel and then the annual tilt with Florida State.

5) Oklahoma
As was Texas Tech, the Sooners were also idle this weekend. Bob Stoops’ squad has a chance to turn the National Championship picture upside-down with a win over Texas Tech.

6) USC
USC got their revenge against Stanford, beating them 45-21. The Trojans are basically helpless, needing help to get back in the Nationl Championship conversation and even winning the PAC-10 title.

7) Penn State
The Nittany Lions bounced back from their heat-breaking defeat last week by taking out Indiana, 34-7. Next, they face Michigan State for the Big Ten title and a Rose Bowl birth.

8) Utah
The Utes kept the winning going by thrashing San Diego State, 63-14. Next up is a date with BYU for the Mountain West title.

9) Boise State
The Broncos cruised by Idoha, 45-10. The Broncos will probably be big BYU fans this coming weekend, as they need a Utah loss to get into a BCS bowl.

10) Ohio State
The Buckeyes kept their Big Ten title chances alive by beating Illinois, 20-10. The Buckeyes will need to beat Michigan and hope that Penn State loses to win the Big Ten title and head to the Rose Bowl.

11) Oklahoma State
12) Missouri
13) Georgia
14) Ball State
15) TCU
16) BYU
17) Michigan State
18) Pitt
19) Cincinnati
20) LSU
21) Oregon State

22) North Carolina
23) Miami

24) Oregon
25) Maryland
