The Alabama Crimson Tide take over the top spot of the GUTS Rankings this week. The Tide cruised to a victory over Arkansas State 35-0, but the Texas loss is what pushed them up to the top spot. Next week, the Tide travel to Baton Rouge to face a struggling LSU squad.
2) Texas Tech
Texas Tech jumps to the #2 spot this week on the strength of their victory over former #1 Texas. The Red Raiders pulled out the win on a last second touchdown from Graham Harrell to Michael Crabtree. What was really impressive was that Texas Tech really controlled this game from start to finish. The Red Raiders won’t have much time to celebrate though because Oklahoma State comes to Lubbock next week.
3) Penn State
The Nittany Lions didn’t play this week and they’re not moving up this week either. But don’t fret Penn State fans. Just keep winning and the Nittany Lions may end up being the only undefeated team left.
Texas has to be the top one-loss team. They may have lost Saturday, but this a very good team. With Texas Tech still having to face Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, the Longhorns may be able to sneak back into the Big XII and National championship picture.
This team is scary good and I’m sure the nation is taking notice. The Gators completely dominated the Georgia Bulldogs from the opening whistle as they went on to win 49-10. The question is though, will the early loss to Ole Miss come back to haunt them?
Oklahoma again holds it’s position from last week with their win over Nebraska. The Sooners have remained at #6 for two weeks straight, but with games remaining with Texas Tech and Oklahoma State, the Sooners still have chances to move up.
7) Oklahoma State
The Cowboys took care of Iowa State 59-17 on Saturday. Now, they travel to Lubbock to take on Texas Tech, where with a win, they may be able to get back into the Big XII and National championship mix.
The Trojans trounced the winless Washington Huskies, 56-0 on Saturday. Cal comes to town this weekend as the Trojans try to keep the PAC-10 title hopes alive.
The Utes squeaked by New Mexico this weekend, 13-10. The Utes can’t afford to struggle this week as TCU will be coming to town.
10) Boise State
The Broncos move into the top ten after crushing New Mexico State, 49-0. Next up for the Broncos is a struggling Utah State squad.
12) Ohio State
15) Ball State
18) North Carolina
19) Michigan State
21) West Virginia
23) Georgia Tech
25) Florida State
