Antoine Walker’s: Stat line of the week #3

Antoine Walker This week’s NBA games were filled with excitement and great games. The Boston Celtics beat the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday 103-102, handing the team its first loss of the season.

And the mighty Los Angeles Lakers lost its first game of the season on Friday falling victim to the Iverson led Detroit Pistons 106-95 in LA.

During this game, the reigning MVP Kobe Bryant attempted to put the team on his shoulders and carry the Lakers to victory, but he failed miserably. Obviously excited by the new look Pistons, Bryant shot 30 FG attempts, which is a recipe for failure. Therefore, he wins the Antoine Walker “Can’t Get no Lower Award” for week 3. Here is Kobe’s stat line:

12-30 FG, 2-7 from the 3point line, 3-4 FT, 5 REB, 6 AST, 4 steals and 3 turnovers.

Phil Jackson should remind Kobe that putting up that many shots never turns out well for the team. The only way the Lakers can contend for the NBA title this season, is if Kobe consistently involves his teammates on the offensive end as he did last season, definitely his best as a pro. The team shot 95 times; 30 of those belonged to Kobe, thats more than 30%, way too many shots for one player to take.
