Big man, Greg Oden of the Portland Trailblazers played in the team’s pre-season debut earlier this week. Oden scored 13 points in just 20 minutes of play. This was Oden’s first official game action since the micro-fracture surgery on his right knee, that he injured in a 2007 summer league game. As the #1 pick in the NBA’s 2007 Draft, Oden’s arrival in Portland brought buzz of a playoff berth, but the team’s dreams were temporarily postponed after the injury. With the 2008-09 season almost upon us, again Trailblazer fans are excited about its team chances to cement a spot in the 2009 post-season. With Oden’s rehabilitation and 25lbs. of added muscle, along with the arrivals of rookie PG Jerryd Bayless and Spain’s Rudy Fernandez, the Blazers are primed to make noise Western Conference’s Northwest division and possibly challenge the Utah Jazz for supremacy. As long as Oden and All-Star Brandon Roy stay healthy, the team should make the playoffs and gain valuable experience. In 3 years, this will be a top team in the West.
