Shaquille O’Neal is arguably one of the greatest big men to ever play in the NBA, but his skills has began to diminish over the past few seasons. As with all of the sports greats, with age comes a decline in ability. O’Neal’s career averages are great, 25.2 ppg. & 11.5 rpg., but last season he average a meager 13.6 ppg. & 9.1 rpg. Those numbers aren’t bad in comparison to the league’s other centers, but unacceptable when compared to O’Neal’s career averages. Shaquille O’Neal is a 4- time NBA champ, a 3-time NBA Finals MVP and was the season MVP in 2000. Certainly he will be inducted into basketball’s Hall of Fame, nevertheless, O’neal will not win another NBA title. Here are 4 reasons why:
1) His best years are behind him– Shaq’s stats have steadily declined over the past 5 seasons.
2) He can’t stay healthy– Being 7’1 and over 300lbs. has taken its toll on O’neals body.
3) No Kobe, No Wade– His titles were won with 2 of the best players in the league by his side, Stoudemire is great, but he has yet to show the same passion for winning as Bryant and Wade.
4) The Suns are not the best team in the West– The Lakers(Kobe) and the Hornets(Paul) are the strongest and 2 of the youngest teams in the Western Conference, and are the favorites to make it to the NBA Finals.
