2008 Summer Olympics Games End

Beijing Olympics

Sadly, the 29th Olympiad has come to a close. The much scrutinized Beijing hosted the 2008 Summer Olympics without the occurence of any major glitches. The closing ceremony was just as innovative and entertaining as the opening ceremony. China not only was a gracious host, but its athletes were also fierce competitors winning a total of 100 medals, of which 51 of them were gold, the greatest gold medal count of any country. The United States was the only country to out-medal China with 110 total medals, 36 were gold. Humanity, comraderie and unity are qualities that embody the foundation of the Olympic games and they were on full display in Beijing. Next, the 2012 Summer Olympic games will invade London. The countdown begins!
